Make your own snow globe magnets
Who doesn't know those beautiful snow globes with charming motifs that transform into a magical winter wonderland when you shake the globe. We have created our snow globe magnets using tins with window lids and omitting the liquid, but the beautiful effect still remains. These instructions are perfect if you want to make your own Christmas gifts and are looking for an original DIY Christmas gift idea.Materials needed
- Scissors
- Pencil
- UHU adhesive
- Glitter paper in different colours
- Construction paper and foam rubber in different colours
- Coarse glitter or artificial snow for the snow globe effect
- Small decorative elements such as Christmas trees (you can also use foam rubber to make them yourself)
- Disc magnets, e.g. type S-10-1.5-N
- Tin can Ø 65mm, with window lid (available, for example, at zumstein.ch)
Background of the snow globe magnet
Trace the tin on your chosen paper and cut out the circle. This way, the paper will fit precisely when you place it inside the tin.
Tip from the supermagnete team: Instead of coloured paper or glitter paper, you can also use photos of your loved ones to give your snow globe magnets a more personal touch.

Decorations for the snow globe
Now glue your small decorative elements in the centre of the tin can. Sprinkle glitter or artificial snow into the tin to create the proper winter magic. Once the inside of the tin is decorated, you can screw it shut and give it a good shake to try out your creation. Finish by glueing the S-10-1.5-N disc magnet to the back of the tin can.
